Experience:
Douglas Zeiders is a partner in the Litigation Department of Hamburg, Rubin, Mullin, Maxwell & Lupin. Since 1983, he has concentrated his practice in the areas of domestic law, personal injury and commercial litigation. While his practice is located primarily in Montgomery County, he has handled cases throughout the five-county Philadelphia area as well as in Lehigh County and has tried cases in both state and federal court.
Areas of Concentration:
Domestic Law
Doug has extensive experience in all aspects of domestic law, including divorce, equitable distribution, custody and support. In one case, Doug was able to win child custody for his client despite the recommendation of the court-appointed psychologist that custody be awarded to the other parent. In other cases, Doug has saved his clients thousands of dollars by structuring property-settlement agreements with a keen eye towards the various tax consequences involved. Doug prides himself on keeping his clients advised as to the status of their cases and promptly responding to phone calls and letters.
Personal-Injury Litigation
Doug has successfully tried cases for clients injured by medical malpractice, automobile accidents, defective products and slip-and-fall accidents. In one case, Doug obtained a verdict for a client by proving that her doctor had failed to properly explain the risks associated with an elective surgical procedure. In another case, Doug obtained a very attractive settlement for a client from a forklift manufacturer with a national reputation for never settling cases by winning a two-year-long battle over the disclosure of certain confidential corporate documents. Doug has also obtained a number of substantial settlements involving defective automobile designs.
Commercial Litigation
Doug has handled numerous cases for clients involving contract disputes of almost every type. For instance, Doug has successfully represented both employers and employees in cases involving restrictive covenants and employment agreements. He has also successfully represented both home builders and home buyers in construction disputes. In one case, Doug represented a homeowner sued by a builder for several hundred thousand dollars for breach of contract. Doug not only successfully defended the homeowner but got a judgment in his favor. Doug's commercial-litigation experience includes not only court cases but also a number of arbitrations through the American Arbitration Association, an alternative dispute-resolution process being used with increasing frequency.
Professional and Civic Activities:
Doug is an active member of the Pennsylvania and Montgomery County Bars. He currently serves on Montgomery Bar Association's Family Law Committee and is a member of the Board of the North Penn Education Foundation. Doug has also served as a special Master in Divorce for the Montgomery County Court of Common Pleas.

Doug received his law degree from Temple University School of Law in 1983 and obtained his undergraduate degree from Dickinson College in 1980.
