Experience:

Steve Lupin is Managing Partner of Hamburg, Rubin, Mullin, Maxwell & Lupin.  He is experienced in practicing almost every aspect of personal injury, business and commercial litigation.  His experience includes representing clients ranging from products liability and medical malpractice in the personal injury field to rebuffing the challenge of the constitutionality of the Montgomery County Personal Property Tax Law to being in the forefront of obtaining a reduction of the equivalent dwelling unit as established by the Montgomery County Sewer Authority.  A partner with Hamburg, Rubin since  April, 1986, Steve has demonstrated a high degree of competency in preparing and trying complex, high stakes cases.  In addition, he has teamed effectively with lawyers of prominent national firms, including Arnold & Porter, Schuyler, Roche & Zwimer and others to prepare commercial and business litigation cases for trial.

Steve has represented a variety of clients in many circumstances, ranging from medium size cases to large complex cases involving multiple parties and millions of dollars.  As a result of his many accomplishments, he was recognized by Philadelphia Magazine and Law & Politics Magazine as a Super Lawyer in the legal profession for the years 2005-2007.  Steve is Past President of the Montgomery County Trial Lawyers Association, is Treasurer of the Montgomery Bar Association, a long-time member of the Board of Governors of the Pennsylvania Trial Lawyers Association, and is a Zone 9 Delegate for the Pennsylvania Bar Association.

Highlights of his experience include:

Successfully represented Montgomery County in the case of Walter H. Annenberg et al. v. Board of Commissioners of Montgomery County, Pennsylvania, United State Supreme Court No. 00-343 in which Walter Annenberg challenged the constitutionality of the Montgomery County Personal Property Tax Law.

Successfully represented Montgomery County, Commissioner Mario Mele, Commissioner Jon Fox and the Northern and Western Waste System Authorities in litigation brought by Waste Management of Pennsylvania, Inc.

Represented many of the Montgomery County developers and was in the forefront of obtaining a reduction of the equivalent dwelling unit (EDU) as established by the Montgomery County Sewer Authority.  (An EDU is a sewer connecting fee for each home.)

Successfully represented the developer in a four-year battle over ownership of a multi-million dollar sewage treatment plant.

Successfully represented a client seeking to expand its landfill onto an adjacent farm, taking the case and fighting it through the zoning-hearing-board stage, the Court of Common Pleas, and the Pennsylvania Supreme Court, in which a unanimous Pennsylvania Supreme Court granted relief to Steve's client.

Represented NexTrade, Inc. in five-year litigation with five separate cases in Florida and Philadelphia regarding a protracted contractual dispute.
