Steven A. Hann Shared PFAS Insights at PA-AWWA & PWEA Conference

Steven A. Hann, Esq., spoke at the PA-AWWA & PWEA specialty conference entitled One Water, PFAS: Past, Present & Future. His presentation provided insights into the evolving regulatory landscape surrounding per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances – known as PFAS in the United States – focusing on their impact on drinking water and wastewater facilities.

During the session, Steve discussed a range of critical PFAS-related issues, including:

  • The EPA’s PFAS Strategic Roadmap

  • Regulatory measures addressing PFAS in drinking water

  • The designation of certain PFAS as CERCLA hazardous substances

  • PFAS-related permitting challenges at wastewater treatment plants

  • Federal initiatives on PFAS in biosolids

  • Upcoming monitoring and compliance deadlines

With extensive experience in PFAS-related matters, Steve has actively engaged in regulatory discussions, frequently presenting and submitting formal comment letters to the EPA and Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) regarding PFAS-related regulatory proposals and initiatives.

A recognized environmental and municipal law authority, Steve chairs Hamburg, Rubin, Mullin, Maxwell & Lupin’s Environmental Law Department and serves as East Region Solicitor for the Pennsylvania Municipal Authorities Association (PMAA). In this role, he regularly advises municipal authorities across Pennsylvania on water, wastewater, stormwater, and solid waste management issues.
