John F. McCaul is an experienced trial lawyer and a member of the Firm’s Commercial Litigation and Personal Injury Teams. His practice focuses on personal injury and commercial litigation matters.

John began his career as an Assistant District Attorney in the Chester County District Attorney’s Office where he refined his skills as a courtroom advocate and trial attorney. In his time with the District Attorney’s Office, John was the lead prosecutor on thousands of felony and misdemeanor cases, handling some of the Office’s most complicated cases and prosecuting the County’s most dangerous offenders. In addition to his courtroom workload, John led long-term investigations into both white-collar theft and violent crime and supervised the County’s Investigating and Indicting Grand Juries. Before leaving the Office, John was cross-designated as a Special Assistant United States Attorney (SAUSA) with the Eastern District of Pennsylvania.

Importantly, today, John applies the lessons learned and skills gathered from his years at the District Attorney’s Office for every client he represents no matter the subject matter or size of the case. When handling a personal injury case, John draws on his experience as an advocate who sought justice for crime victims so that he can better help those who have been injured by the negligence, whether action or inaction, of someone else. For his commercial clients, who face expensive and seemingly endless business litigation, John brings the necessary skill set developed from his time prosecuting complex white-collar thefts and supervising Grand Jury investigations to adequately manage and prepare document-intensive cases and obtain the best outcome for his clients.

In addition to representing clients in Personal Injury and Commercial matters, John also represents people who are facing criminal charges. As an Assistant District Attorney, John prosecuted nearly every crime on the books, including Driving Under the Influence, Theft, Gun and Drug charges, Robbery, Burglary, Aggravated Assault, and Homicide. He uses that experience to help his clients navigate the criminal justice system so that they may obtain justice in the courts.

John is admitted to practice law in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania as well as in the Eastern District of Pennsylvania, Middle District of Pennsylvania, and Western District of Pennsylvania. An active member of the Montgomery, Chester County and Pennsylvania Bar Associations, he is currently the Secretary for the Montgomery American Inn of Court. Additionally, John is a member of the Pennsylvania Association of Justice and regularly accepts court-appointed criminal cases in Montgomery County for indigent people charged as criminal defendants.

A graduate of Temple University Beasley School of Law (J.D., 2015) where he was the recipient of the Law Faculty Scholarship and earned an additional Certificate in Trial Advocacy, John was named as “Distinguished Advocate” in two of his trial advocacy classes and was also a member of the esteemed Temple Trial Team. John is a proud graduate of Penn State University (B.A., 2011), and is an avid Nittany Lions football fan.

John grew up in Delaware County (“Delco”) and now lives in Narberth with his wife, Mary, daughter, Grace, and black lab, Molly. In his downtime, you can usually find John playing golf, reading a book or enjoying downtime with his young family.
