John F. McCaul is an experienced trial lawyer and litigator who has substantial courtroom experience. A member of the Firm’s Litigation, Criminal Law and Personal Injury Departments, John passionately represents his clients very much focused on the high stakes involved.

Criminal Defense Practice

An experienced criminal defense attorney, John began his career as a prosecutor in the Chester County District Attorney’s Office where he prosecuted thousands of felony and misdemeanor cases, including some of its most complicated cases. In addition to his courtroom experience, John led long-term investigations into both white-collar theft and violent crimes. He also supervised the Investigating and Indicting Grand Juries and was eventually cross-designated as a Special Assistant United States Attorney (SAUSA) with the United States Attorney’s Office. John now uses all this inside knowledge and experience as a former prosecutor to fight for his clients.

He zealously defends the rights those who have been accused of serious criminal offenses, including Murder, Robbery, Burglary, Domestic Abuse, White Collar Theft, Gun Charges, Drug Charges, and DUI. Even though the criminal justice system can be heavily stacked against a criminal defendant, John routinely obtains favorable outcomes in courtrooms throughout the Philadelphia area. As a former prosecutor who has prosecuted nearly every crime in the book, John now uses that experience and insider knowledge to fight for his clients.

John recognizes that simply being accused of a crime is an extremely stressful and frightening event in someone’s life. A conviction for any offense can have dire consequences, not just for the accused, but on family members and loved ones. John takes pride in carefully navigating his clients through a possibly overly-harsh system. No matter the stakes, John works diligently and thoroughly in every case to obtain justice for people whose lives, reputations, and liberty are on the line.
